Skelmorlie Environment Trust attended the community centre open day on Saturday. We were delighted to meet many people from the area, many of whom hadn’t heard of us before. It was great to see what other groups there are in the community too.
Suggestions from the community
There were some excellent suggestions of the types of environmental action people want to see in our village including:
- Planting fruit trees at entrances to The Crescent
- Revisiting “Beyond The Great Outdoors” community raised beds in school to gain community access again
- Growing pumpkins for next Halloween for sale in October
- Organise an event to remove Himalayan Balsam from area at the burn at the rear of the football pitch / MUGA
- Work to stop any redevelopment at Gold Course Road
We will be addressing all of these ideas!
Stay informed of our news!
We have started a mailing list and already have quite a few signups from the event, and hopefully more from you too! We’ll use the mailing list to update you on our news and projects so that you don’t miss out on what’s going on and have an opportunity to get involved.
Leaving the event happy
We encountered such a positive response to the projects we are undertaking, with lots of offers of support. It really helps us to know that the community are happy with our efforts, making it all worthwhile!
Overall we were left with a lovely warm glow from all the visitors to our table and other community groups.
Thanks for your support Skelmorlie!
