Community Fruit TreesGeneral News

The day is almost here! We have 80 heritage fruit trees arriving on Saturday morning. We are running two planting days, 1 for the general public, scouts and youth group – then another with the school. On the public planting day, we will plant around 50 trees with help from John from Scottish Fruit Trees, the remaining 30 will be planted with Skelmorlie Primary School the Monday after.

Public Planting Day

We will have two planting sessions with a lunch break at the scout hall in between. The Scouts are going to serve some soup, tea and coffee as a reward for the first shift or to set us up for the second! You are welcome to come to one or both shifts and lunch.

We ask that you come in time for the demonstrations in the morning or afternoon so that we can be as effective with the time as possible.

Public Planting Day Timetable – 9th March

Let us know if you’re coming!

We are thrilled at the amount of people who indicated they wanted to help when we first surveyed. We have made a very small form for you to fill in if you are interested in attending whether it be to help plant or help in some other way! This will enable us to plan the tree planting, making sure everyone can get involved.

Questions

Where do we meet?

Meet us at the playpark by the school.

What should I bring?

Bring gloves, spade and if you want to join us for lunch bring 2 cups, and a spoon! 1 cup for a tea or coffee and another for soup. If you fancy bringing any baking along for lunch that would be welcomed!

What if it rains?

We will be planting rain or shine! We’ll try and get your email address and if anything happens that prevents planting we’ll be in touch to let you know, and share on Facebook.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
